Meant for No one

What happened to fate?

Why aren’t all loves returned?

Surely, if there are soulmates, then every love would be shared.

Even the forbidden.

Even those that would never work out.

They should be shared.

So no one has to feel the desolateness, the pain.

The emptiness of lonliness.

 

Feeling like you’re meant for no one,

You wander the lonely path of life.

And when the occasional star bursts across the darkness,

Your heart freezes while burning.

 

Do you think of me as often as I think of you?

That thought occurs to you whenever you see their face.

Whenever you hear their voice.

Whenever you shut your eyes, ‘cause their face is

Imprinted in your mind.

 

None of them are fleeting fancies.

All last for as long as you can bear it.

 

When you touch me, I die. My heart stops.

 

Years later on in your life,

When you’re still alone

Your heart cold and shrunken in your breast

Along he’ll come.

 

Your heart will flutter when you first see him

As his does when he glimpses you.

Yet you still don’t believe in it.

You still think you’re meant for no one.

So you leave.

Rather then suffer the pain again,

You leave.

And never return.
