A Million Secrets

A Million Secrets

A Poem by .abigail.

I don’t shed tears on the outside.

Mine fall inside.

They quench the fire of my life,

Causing steam to drift up my throat,

Burning my friends and family with my harsh words.

But at least they don’t know that I’m crying.

At least my façade of strength is maintained.

One day, my façade will go away.

It will shatter with the weight of a million lies,

A million secrets.

Then, when people see the real me,

What will they do?

Will they still love me?

Or will they see the monster that they themselves created?

When my façade smashes to pieces,

Will you be there for me?

This one resonates with me. Often I wonder what people would think if I didn't keep a façade up for others. Not lying outright necessarily, but only seeing pieces of me at a time.

This feels very genuine. Continue to put yourself out there, in some form or fashion. It's helpful at times to put the tears on a page rather than always inside.

About
Hey. My real name isn't Abigail, but I prefer it, and I don't want my friends to read any of the stuff I've written, so I'm not putting my real name. I was born in 1994, I live in Australia. M.. more..
