Foul Delight

I wrote this poem because of the pain I felt when I was in high school. This is for my ex-bestfriend. I had expected something from him, so that's what I got.

FOUL DELIGHT

Once I told myself that I will never ever love again

For my heart always left broken

But then I met you

And my heart feels like new

 

I’d never expected that these feelings will nourish

Cause you’re the one that I will never cherish

I never dream of being with you

For I hated you and even treated as foe

 

But still God makes a perfect plan

We became friends and treated each other warm

You’re so true and nice to be with

We even walk together and seem so sweet

 

Everything’s going with the flow

It seems like we’ve something to show

You’re making me laugh every time

Teasing each other, the moments are fine

 

Until the day came

You seem so different from within

I tried to approach your side

But it seems like you’re always tired

 

Many days have passed

We never talked about this stuff

I just heard one day

You’re in love with somebody

This poem makes my heart wrench. I know this feeling. You encompass the emotions so well! My only criticism is that you change the last line. The poem is so strong, and I was waiting for that last line to just cinch everything together to make me feel exactly like you felt when you figured it out.
