The Voice

I think
It came back
I know
Its just worse

Maybe if
I scream loud enough
 for my jaw to break
    and my eyes to water

It'll lose its ears

Its inside of me and mating with my fears

Maybe If
I run fast enough
For my feet to fly
   and my heart to burst

It'll lose its breath

It's been inside of me for years

Maybe If
I cry hard enough
For my eyes to bleed
   and my soul to hover

It'll lose its mind
and maybe then
I can find mine

Your last two stanzas really spoke to me as usual. You have such a way about concluding your poems.

I find myself always proposing questions like this to myself. "Maybe," I can maybe myself all day.

A very well, relatable poem to many, including myself. It is in the darkest times of our lives that these voices in our heads, our alter ego, either leads to comforting thoughts, bringing us back into the light, or destruction if we let it.

I can relate because I enjoy pretending that I have schizophrenia or as rappers call alter ego's and they do talk to me. All of them my favorite one is "Johnny" why? Well because he's a dark person and truthfully so am I. Though I pretend one thing I do not pretend is I am a very depress person so hearing voices in my head is common. I though about ending it plenty of times and that's what I sense in this poem (though I maybe wrong) but I believe the person in this poem is running trying his/her best not to end it. By fighting like I'm doing at this particular moment. I enjoy reading this and shall continue to read more of your work... :)

Alex, I can relate with you. I have been working hard on this fight. It's work, something you must do every day and just like anything else, it gets easier the more you do it. For me, those voices became so comforting. I realized that those dark times could have taken over my life if I didnt do anything about it. I started viewing my life as a practice. No end goal, but every moment as a new opportunity to better yourself. I think you understand this poem perfectly. I was trying to personalize the alter ego. He's invisible but so big at times.
