   ~Dilettante, dilatare, delectare.~

shaded under dusty olives, enough gardening to cultivate your Latin roots, or:  Lutra lutra

imperator, mea culpa

ignorant of command, innocent and contrite

iam not unwilling, but yes, distracted

and have neglected

awash in surf, and singing

treading water in salty legacies

     but, stay! tarry! linger!

heeding imperatives

     go! go! go!

importunate entreaties

I'll expand and

     dive! dive! dive!

5 full fathoms, thallisinus, my chest on fire

trailing kelp to seek out treasure

each kick propels me in desire

non sequitus lector

not to follow the reader

secuutus

he will be seeing

what is enigma within crusted abalone

prised open reveals irridescence

revolving to the surface, bursting into

backstroke, tethered, this otter plunders

secret, tender flesh all briney

- I sink my teeth in -

tantillus, ligua delectata

and lick, delicious

to slake my lust with something shiny
