Yoga for Dummies

A Poem by kayla

Yesterday I tried to become

"one with my inner being",

I found some yoga On Demand,

figured it would be interesting.

At first I was just sitting down,

revitalizing my chakras.

It was so easy and calming,

just focusing on my dharma.

Then the scene changed, so I got up

and followed what they did on the screen.

They said, "let the spirit move you",

as they danced like enlightened beings.

And I followed along with them,

all joyfully enlightened and such,

until I found myself out of breath-

I think I enlightened too much.

On the screen everyone was dancing,

all smiling and one with themselves,

but in my own room I was sweating.

I was definately not "one with myself".

I paused the video to see

how long they would be doing this,

because my feet hurt and I was in pain

and I didn't think I could get through this.

"Twenty minutes!" I exclaimed,

"that is not going to happen".

I grabbed my water and changed clothes

turned off the TV and took a nap then.

Yoga is good for us. Need good bones and flexibility to do it correctly. I like the story and the very nice ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

I like how you added humor to give this a nice spark. I lol'd at "I think I enlightened too much" Reminds me of my first yoga class and I kept falling over in front of everyone and my friend was laughing at me. I couldn't enlighten at all...
