The Broken Road

The Broken Road

A Poem by Allie Mccomas
"

To move forward, you must mend the past.

"

The harder the skin, the more fragile the core;
The weeping soul lay bruised inside.
Looking for the light through the muddied darkness;
Yearning for the warm glow of peace.
This, the never-ending journey to find oneself;
Wading through guilt, loneliness, despair;
While the arctic maternal air pierces the heart;
Shattering it to pieces, once again.
The strong exterior with the solemn eyes;
Masks the vulnerable spirit.
The body aches, the conscience fears the truth that awaits.
Yet, unquenchable thirst further pulls him,
Down the long, broken road
That will finally lead him home.

You are by far my favorite poet. Where have you been? You bring a freshness to the genre.
