A Stalkers Confession

A Stalkers Confession

A Poem by J. James Reider
"

I sat down with the intentions of writing something serious... Well that didn't work so well, so I said... Go ahead and write yourself then! and it did... here is the result.

"

I watch you from the bushes,

I watch you from the trees.

I watch you through binoculars,

I watch you flaunt and tease.

I see you every morning.

I see you every night.

You do not know I'm there,

but I can see you alright.

I spy you in your kitchen.

I spy you in your home.

I even have a camera,

in your garden gnome.

I listen at your doorstep,

I listen to your phone.

I think I may have frightened you.

I hear it in your tone.

I climbed upon your roof top,

to figure out that sound.

Lo, I slipped and fell,

and am crippled on your ground!

I observe you from a car,

my observations never cease,

even if I'm handcuffed,

and staring at police.

I watch you at the county,

filling out some papers,

a restraining order really?

I guess that ends my capers!

Isn't it weird how such a serious frightening tale of a stalker can become something so hillarious.
Just goes to prove that words are powerful things. They can be whatever we want them to be if we know how to use them. It sort of reminds me of that old tv show. Outer Limits. When it first comes on they mess up the screen and then tell you not to try and adjust your tv set because they have control of it and can make it do what they want. Thats the same power we have with words. We can use them to cause fear, happiness, sadness, even things such as hunger.

You have done a great job with this poem. You've made us laugh at something frightening.

This is hilarious. The title fits well with the message, and the storyline was very interesting. This is a good read

hahhaha i dont know... i found it kind of hilarious. i didn't really get a "creepy" feeling from it, but i took it pretty lightly the whole time... and it became really hilarious in the second half.

'I even have a camera,

in your garden gnome."

that made me laugh out loud.
ha, oh man.

creepy stalker you :P

Hmm ... The overall creepy feeling of this piece becomes lost around the fifth stanza, which is a shame. I was rapt until that point. The ending would have enticed me more had the protagonist continued on with his/her obsession regardless of the legal outcomes. This would have continued that creepy-crawly feeling and, I think, would have made it more thought provoking. Don't get me wrong, J., I genuinely love your work. But, this one needs some editing. Still, high ratings for the first half of the poem. I think the eeriest poetry - the kind of poetry that sends shivers down the spine and keeps the reader awake at night - is done in sing-song format, and that's exactly what you've done here. Add that to an edited end, and you've got a winner!
