Wing in Wing with Hints of Purple

Wing in Wing with Hints of Purple

A Poem by J. James Reider
"

A Sestina

"

The canary and owl are at peace...

Like the lion lied with the lamb in spirit...

I close my eyes and accept you as my guide...

Aide me through my struggles in life...

Now I place my faith in Mother Nature,

and feel blessed by a fearless, friendly faith.

In the past; I had nowhere to place my faith,

and I struggled to find inner peace.

Cluelessly, I ignored the signs posed by nature,

and witnessed a huge decline in my spirit.

I was lost in my ambitions and dreams in a hopeless life,

constantly seeking the helping hand of a guide.

Alas, they were all fake.  With no apparent guide-

I was depressed by my newly weakend faith.

There were times I dreamed of the end of life,

snuffed out and discarded for the sake of inner peace.

I limped around with my broken spirit,

cursing all in the world in regards to nature.

Who would have thought I could find tranquility in nature?

With squirrel and deer and tree for a guide?

A soul mate who would take the time to nurture my spirit,

picked me up, dusted me off and said "Give me your faith."

Now in friendship, I have found peace...

Now I can hope to live a happier life.

There is so much to be learned within one's life,

so much time in which we largely ignore Mother Nature.

It is hard to explain how to achieve such peace,

I had the gift of a canary as my guide.

I sometimes felt like I was tossing a coin for my faith,

that is not a healthy way to manage one's spirit.

How I can shout that I have a happy spirit!

How I can sing about my new outlook on life!

Never in my past have I had so much faith,

nor have I ever enjoyed myself in the arms of nature...

I have indubidable pride in my journey's guide,

one who was able to put my soul at peace.

I have fulfilled my spirit while journeying through nature...

I have a brighter life thanks to my canary guide...

Thanks to my newborn faith, I have been fulfilled with inner peace!

This is quite, quite beautiful. Your words truly flow almost like a prayer of thanks.

Nature is what it is but needs to be loved, needs to be seen with understanding eyes and then, protected and, loved even more. Maybe that's what Mankind needs to do in total, and that would include our Earth, our planet, as a whole, plus, those who live upon it - not just growth and beasts. Some great philopher wrote that in protecting a blade of grass or the smallest creature we are showing love to the Creator. Guess that also gives us a faith, don't you think?

Having said that, yes, yes... sit or stand in a field, walk the woods and forests, listen to the birds, the creatures - feel blessed and humble that the beauty is there to be seen. Listening is vital, the sounds of the breeze through branches, the scurry of little creatuires in hedgerows... oh, oh, sorry, I'm writing too much... it's just that I understand why this poem has impressed me so much

Faith is faith in the Maker and He created all beauty. To see and feel it all, is to believe.

Thank you so much for sharing. This is going into my favourites.

This is so very well done. Not only does it have its own lovely melody but it sings of truth and displays the happy heart of its writer. Well done ... authentic.

Never have I read such stunningly beautiful words.
Your beautiful heart and spirit now free.
My heart and soul cry tears of joy for you.
I am too deeply touched to express.
