A poem to honor my dad's memory

Let Go

 

 

 

Father, Father

Why oh why

Did you have to pass me by.

Spread your wings and learn to fly

And leave me behind.

Like a kite

Up in the sky,

You fly so high.

You move the clouds.

Nothing

Could bring you down.

Here you leave me

All alone,

And you're never

Coming home.

Up you fly

And disappear.

Will I ever let go?

Let you

fly away

From me.

As much as I want you to stay,

Being selfish

Is never okay.

If you could stay

just one more day,

I would have so much to say.

But since you can't

I'll say goodbye.

I will let you go.
