Before you can shine

Before you can shine

A Poem by Kris Svanlaugs
"

was feeling a bit sad one day and it kind of just came to me

"

It feels like

Staring down the barrel of a gun

Hopelessness bursting through

Emptiness is the spark

Loneliness is the trigger

Nothing is how I want it to be

Even so I know

Sometimes you have to break

Before you can shine

Sometimes the pain

Can help you to fly.

And if you ever have doubts

Just give it a little time.

Slowly falling down

Falling deeper and deeper

Slowly losing sight of myself

Drifting from who I used to be.

Confused and conflicted

Spinning out of control

Who will help me, if I can‘t help myself

Beautifully written, explained in relatively simple words but with a great impact. I loved how fluid it was. These verses stood out to me the most: "Emptiness is the spark
Loneliness is the trigger." I found myself relating to this on so many levels. I guess you attained your goal.

Captures mood, feeling and state of mind very well. I can feel how you felt that day when you wrote this. Good simile and metaphor with the gun and trigger. Thanks for sharing.

A lot of strong statements in the poetry.
"Sometimes you have to break
Before you can shine
Sometimes the pain
Can help you to fly."
The above lines are very true. To know sweetness, we must know bitterness. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
