Leave Me Now

Leave Me Now

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

The rhythm that shifts when you come near.
The craving and
insatiable desire.
A thirst never quenched,
inevitably lost in the pyre.

Cheap cologne and orchestrated scenes
should disgust me, wince and turn around.
But you snap your fingers
and I come
like an obedient, blood hound.
Longing for your command,
you control the entirety of me
with the grasp of your hand,
and your hidden
pleas.

Leave me now,
let me be free
of your hot and cold
hypocrisy,
and our
nuclear energy-
-never to be
released.
