Life-Giving

Life-Giving

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

Fragrant wisps of lilac
tangle around dappled ground.
Scampering creatures tread on dead leaves,
life-giving sounds.

Stop and listen.
The rustling, the breeze.
Still are the trees
But don't be fooled,
they carry secrets deep within their wood.

Stop and listen.
You'll hear their whispers
of old.

Protective canopies
lying in wait-
hoping you'll visit next,
just let your feet lead the way.
