To Have and to Hold

To Have and to Hold

A Poem by Kristina Yoder

Beneath the still black surface,

underneath the mossy middle and

at the depths, where I feel most alone-

You’re there-

arms outstretched, quietly waiting

for me to fall.

A heart wide open

emitting a song that

calms and revives

the darkness that shrouds my fibers

and wires.

Tall and strong

you lift me-

but only when I’m ready

and until then-

You’re there.

Still.

Holding me.

Penetrating and bringing to life

the parts of myself which

I had abandoned and drifted

apart from.

My eyes.

My heart.

My other have

and to hold.

Sweet, serene and mellow. So pleasant, to feel I am in that placement. The tree, the wanting. That is really good. A good depiction of love with rediscovering the parts of yourself previously abandoned. Held... tight...
