The Carnival

The Carnival

A Poem by Katie
"

This poem was a class assignment. Our theme was "dark" and we were given ten key words to add into the poem.

"
On a happy, summer day
With music all around-
I am going to a carnival
In an old, creepy town.

The gently glowing evening sun
Makes me think the stories were a lie-
That the weird things I had hear about this place were tricks played by their eyes.

The rock and roll playing doesn't make me want to flee,
It beckons me to trust this clown...
Oh another one... Oh! There's three!
I assume that they are friendly,
They're cute; short and stout.
But something in their catlike grins
makes me hesitate and try to back out.

Oh dear, I've dropped my glasses!
I can't see a thing!
Why is it getting darker?
And its kind of hard...to...breathe
