The Year I Found Myself

The Year I Found Myself

A Poem by Katie Richards
"

This is actually a song I wrote about learning from misfortune, adversitity, human error, etc.

"

The autumn I fasted on sugar and poison

The autumn I gave into seduction and treason

The winter I traveled in search of my soul

The winter I cried upon returning home

The year I found myself...

That summer, I stood upon my last leg

Just to take the beating once again

If this won't kill me I swear the end will

If this won't save me then what else could?

Unconscious, I took on callous streams

Curse the tumor that's obscuring sanity

They say, "With pain comes learning"

I say, "They're right."

I found myself to be the bravest of souls tonight

The year I found myself...

I finally found myself...

I'm on way home...

I found myself.

this is very inspiring. sometimes finding yourself takes a lifetime, and it doesn't always mean breaking free from what's already there. it's more like going home. back to a place you now understand has more worth than you thought. this poem could be a song, you know? i love it.
