My own hero

My own hero

A Poem by Karter Vaugn

All my life I’ve been searching for love, something genuine and concrete.

But now that I’m out here with only myself, I’ve never felt more complete.

The undisturbed silence reminding me, that I can finally live in peace

The gentle kiss of the wind, as I lay here admiring nature’s masterpiece.

The sun leads me by day, shedding it's light on this beautiful new world that’s now mine

The moon comforts me by night as my spirit is renewed and the stars in my eyes realign.

I’m no longer a whipping post, a sex toy, a prize, I’m no longer a slave, I’m free.

The only love I ever needed was within me all this time. The only thing I’ve ever needed, was me.
