Maybe I Shouldn't Say

Maybe I Shouldn't Say

A Poem by kyam

I'm trying to mind my own business
So maybe I shouldn't say
It's a shame how your daddy beats you
And your most always black and blue

Where was your brother yesterday?
Maybe I shouldn't say
But you got 20 new laptops in your house
He was carrying them in yesterday looking like a mouse

May I just shouldn't say
But when your house burnt down the other day
Uncle Jimmy had matches on the ground
And he ran away when he heard the police sound

Maybe I just shouldn't really say
But when you're sister got shot that way
I was standing at the window folding sheets
When your boyfriend threw that gun and jumped in that jeep

There are things that people just don't wanna say
Just go on mind your own business and keep it that way
Keep your nose clean they always told me
If you want to live 'til the next mornin' you see

WOW. What a piece. Chilling and gripping, thought pondering and very dramatic. I kind of think that this must be what it is like to be a mobsters wife point of view when i read this.

This was something else.

Peeps like to believe that "Once was a time we took care of our own!" Well, if you look through history THAT never was - until people banded together, established common laws and empowered specific other people to enforce them across-the-board. And we even broke away from local Royalty after enough people became educated and determined we could have a society that COULD be fair and as equal as its members allowed. We've made historical advances and historical mistakes ...and we are still trying to get our IT right.

The peeps that hurt and rip ya off WANT the silence of their "lambs" - that is their power. And yeah - we ARE right to fear their threats and violence - when there is no respect for other people, our own laws and property, and personal responsibility and accountability for our actions all that is left - are threats and violence.

Yo Biatch - Don' be no rat, or an f'in snitch - is what's said to the point of it becoming a personal badge of honor. But isn't it strange how those terms are applied by the ones doin tha wrong ...to their victims? "When only the guys DRIVING the tank have power - then the man or woman standing in the way are just another bump on the road."

Nothing changes without being talked about...
Come one, come all
Let's have a ball
Say a little thing or two
It'll be appreciated I can assure you....
