As You Lived

As You Lived

A Poem by Kyebri ThatsMe
"

written 10/8/12 for my grandmother brooks

"
I wanted to remember your laugh...
when thoughts of you invaded my mind
I wanted your smile to be...
what over shadowed everything
when thoughts of you lingered in my head

I simply  wanted to remember you as you lived...

I wanted to remember the softness in you voice...
even as you corrected our bad behaviour
I wanted the tenderness of your touch...
to forever live within my memories

I simply wanted to remember you as you lived...

I was however forced to face you...
as you lay lifeless
No laugh, nor smile
No warmth of your touch
the softness of your voice
drowned out by sobs of pain

For now, life as you lived is over

Never again will i have you AS YOU LIVED

This poem is so sad. It brought tears to my eyes by the flow of the words connecting. Thank you for sharing
