fear of the known

fear of the known

A Poem by kyle morano

i am scared.
it's a broad, unspecific statement,
but, yes.
i am scared.
because i have loved you so
and knowing you have loved me just the same
is maybe the worst part of it.
maybe it's because i can lose you now.
it's easier to lose something you never had-
but now it's real.
you're not just a plaything i can love in my mind
you're real.
it's real.
and that's what scares me most.

Interesting work about fear's connection to romantic love. The irony is noted: now that love is possessed, there is the fear of losing it. Sad, but true. With romantic love, both winning and losing are ever a factor.
