To Eric

To Eric

A Poem by Lauren Amber

Progression is a little depressing.
To leave behind familiarity to pursue your dreams is pretty scary.
To live life for love, once burned, you can't help but be twice as wary.
This doesn't mean I have lost my faith, nor have I lost my trust.
I am actually stronger than before; I have more faith in my world.
Do not let me down, stubborn man with a heart of gold,
For the very foundation in which you have built my trust will turn to mush.
Do not let me down dreams
For the very foundation in which you are made of will be my demise.
And only the Lord knows that I want to end up like those in my tree.

About
I didn't write for some time, and it feels wonderful to start again. It is one of the purest forms of therapy I know. I am in my early twenties, residing in Queens with my boyfriend and our pit bull.. more..
