Number one Party Anthem

Number one Party Anthem

A Poem by laRagazza

My eyes gaze no deeper into the face in front of me
than the dark black mascara covering the girl's eyelashes,
than the sparkling red dress that sits well above the knee,
than the look in her eyes, smoldering like bright ashes.
She turns to the side, making visible her profile view,
and smiles a smile that would make anyone's heart beat,
onto her lips, she puts a bright red lipstick hue,
and with that one last detail, the whole look is complete.

Maybe this girl is more than she seems,
maybe, like me, she has hopes and dreams,
and maybe, just maybe, a hint of despair,
but I'll have to be honest, tonight I don't care.

Letting myself go adds just the right glow to my complexion.
I turn towards the room and walk away from my reflection.
