Above the Water

Above the Water

A Poem by Lacy Cole

Above the water

It would seem the tide carried me away from the life I had lived,

Among all my complaints, something did give.

And although some may not agree,

I did love parts of living near the sea.

I can see the waves from so far away,

But I no longer have a role to play.

No more salty sea air eroding my being,

Above to breathe, enjoying new sights for seeing.

However sometimes when I begin to close my eyes,

I remember the feeling, of the oceans cries.

Inside myself are waves of their own, filling me with rage.

But still I remember how much I felt it was just a cage.

Adjusting freely to life brand new,

Yet missing the dear ocean blue.
