I don't love you

I don't love you

A Poem by Nina Love

Sitting in my room,

You smile and say "I love you".

I smile grimly back and reply

"Yeah, so do I"

Or something along those lines

But in my mind,

I'm crying,

Because I hate to have to lie,

But I just can't bring myself

To hurt you.

I love you as my friend,

And I wish I could feel the way you do.

I'd give up everything just to say the words

And know that they're true.

But they're not,

And I don't really love you

Like you want.

I'm in love with him,

Even though he's far away.,

...Even though he doesn't feel the same.

You know I still think about him,

Damn near everyday.

And you know he's still in my dreams,

Even after all he's done to me,

And I'm sorry to say

I don't really love you

Like I say.

wow...this poem describes my situation word for word. even if it didn't though, this is really well written. it's such a sad and ugly topic, and i like the way you address it.

I like the flow of the last part of this poem from " and I dont really love you, Im in love with him, even though he's far away... like I say"
I really feel how upset you are at using "love" when you knew it didn't match how he was using it. I found myself in this same situation and both people are in pain here so the love in both cases is harmful. This situation sucks and you've told it well.
