Deal The Devil REDONE

Deal The Devil REDONE

A Poem by Nina Love
"

A spontaneous bit of writing done in history class. (Finished Ending, YAY!!)

"

The deal was set,

The devil grinned

My soul forfeit

The pain was pinned

And hidden deep inside

An ashwood box

He handed it to me,

Key, stock, and lock,

His black claws tracing my hands as I pull back

Tounge tracing his jaws,

His eyes faded to black.

Intent was clear in his eyes

"We had a deal!"

I cry.

"Indeed we did,

But now tis done,

I break no vow,

I swore no lie."

I shiver as his hand brushes my cheek,

His skin is hot,

But its not a burning heat.

I open my eyes as

He brushes back my hair

So gentle,

Touching as if...

...he cared...

A tear glitters on my skin,

He brushes it away,

Leans and my ear,

Whispers in

"Tell me, if only for tonight,

if only for today, say you'll stay."

The distance closes,

His lips on mine.

My breath is gone,

I close my eyes.

He pulls back but stays near,

I search his face and find

Longing and pain showing plainly there.

I cannot bear his sorrow,

So I try to kiss it away.

I cannot believe what

I want to say,

I know I shouldn't

And yet...

 "I'll stay."

I whisper against his lips,

He pulls away,

Startled and unsure

His head dips

As he tries to hide his frown.

"Do not toy with me now,

For even I,

Hell Spawn,

Lucifer, Legion,

Bane of dawn,

Have desires."

His head still bowed,

I clasp his hand to my heart and

Let him feel my fire,

My innate desire.

For Him.

He pulls me back,

His lips on mine,

Tounges tangling like forest vines.

His hands, smooth and hot

Trailing down,

I'm caught.

I could not leave, now,

Even if I wished

For I find myself

In love with him.

Baal, Lucifer, Legion,

I... I think I love..."

Again, I've startled Him,

So easily startled for one so feared,

And I think, perhaps he is not

Quite so afearing as

He appears.

He places his fingers upon my lips.

"Please do not speak of it.

I cannot bear the thought of

Letting you believe yourself in love

With such a creature as I.

Now leave me, forever,

You are far too good for I.

Leave and return to your plane,

Go back to your level,

Simply remember

You alone cause my heart to beat,

You alone cause my heart to break.

But such is the case,

Such is the pain,

When you deal the Devil."

Now this is good! The Devil and bad boys!

It's kind of a creepy piece, but well done nonetheless. Maybe it's because I've grown up with a picture of Satan as a heartless creature whose sole purpose is to tempt people away from God, but the whole piece felt awkward to me.

Probably because I need to think outside the box, as you obviously have.

Very nicely written, and I like how you slipped in and out of a variety of rhyming schemes. It didn't seem like any lines were really wasted, and I actually liked the last few lines.
