For Dove.

For Dove.

A Poem by Nina Love
"

Dove was my beautiful, talented girlfriend. Her stepfather killed her two years ago. I am only just now writing about her because Until now, I could not even speak her name Without crying, and Raging at the Goddess who Would dare take her from me.

"

For Dove,

Because

My heart has grown a thousand times

My smile has come to play and

I find myself no longer searching for lines

No longer afraid of betrayel.

For Dove,

Because

You held my hand to your heart

And were not afraid

You knew, without knowing

That I would not rip it apart.

For Dove,

Because

You smiled and waved and laughed

For me, To me, and With me

Even when they sought to tear us in half

You were strong, and made me the same.

For Dove,

Because

Even when I cried for pain,

You were gentle.

For Dove,

Because

Of love we were not afraid to show,

You did not die in vain.

For Dove,

Because

I loved you so.

This is beautiful, well done!

Wow. You've never stopped loving her. She's still smiling, still waving, still laughing. What a wonderful way to help us see that.

This poem has more joy than bitterness. I admire that, so much. It's difficult not to lash out when pain is so strong. I applaud your growth and how well you seem to be dealing with your loss. The Goddess didn't take her, she was a gift with a short and glorious time here. Sometimes those brief flashes can change the world.

You were blessed. You are blessed. Blessed be.

I clearly see and feel the emotions that you so poetically spill on the pages. Beautiful. I actually had a friend named Dove, and his sister was named Lakey.

This is a beautiful, powerful poem. It tells me that emotions
never die, and will always be a shadow behind us.
