I Promise Never

I Promise Never

A Poem by LadyRouge
"

Idea that sprung from a song and took on its own life

"

I'm trying not to be

To proud to admit

The ways

Of who I am as a woman.

Though

If you look

Upon my clothes,

You'll see the woman

I'm trying not to be.

In the beginning

She was a woman ...

A woman that

Started my hate,

But now

I'm still trying to find

A love of hers

She never granted.

A love that

I now

Can't give myself.

You'll never live the life I lived ...

You'll never feel the life I felt ...

You'll never grasp the things I've endured ...

You'll never feel the heat with in my skin ...

You'll never know

The emotion of her touch.

You could never fully understand

The life she gave me.

Theres a courage deep with in

I know you can never comprehend.

So I say NOW ...

Don't love me ...

Don't need me ...

Don't see me how I am today.

He loves me ...

He loves me NOT ...

I'm basing it all on you,

It's a burden I KNOW,

A burden you

Don't even know you carry.

Still my actions

You'll never know,

But a promise

To catch my falling ways

Is always hidden in your lips.

Black backgrounds with white text are painful to look at.

I always talk about my favorite poems being the ones that make me think about life. I love how this one did that for me and how it can be taken so many ways to fit the reader.
