A Break

A Break

A Poem by songbirdwriting

While the crowd is looking
in one direction
I am walking in another
My feet won’t stop
till I am far away
surrounded by moonlight
and stars
instead of people
and stares

At midnight,
lying on my back on the cold earth floor
my mind will soar upwards
toward the black skies

to spaces big enough to carry the burdens
that make my weak and narrow shoulders
collapse

My eyes closed,
my hair tangled
with weeds and
banished worries
I will slip away
and before long
I will be gone

Ah, another good write. I can totally relate to this one. I am an introvert myself. I prefer being surrounded by nature over people. Sometimes, I think that looking at the sky, or a waterfall can ease our minds and make us forget all the worldly worries and concerns.

Good job.
