In The Real World

In The Real World

A Poem by Lana

I hate symbols
I love people who've made real change
I aspire to be one of those people
I hate brands
I love a sincere message
I aspire to always give a helping hand
Things simple and true
-- are yet complicated and unattainable in the real world
I hate liars
I hate people who talk too much and never act
I hate people who put on an act
Yet in the real world we are all actors
In the real world you have to define yourself
What is your brand? What is your symbol?
Many corporation created symbols that you can wear
Many people become symbols that you can wear
Many people aspire to be a symbol that you can wear
In the real world, the air is polluted by all the wrong things; stuff
It's hard not to inhale some of that air; to come back to your senses
The city gets foggy, it's hard to see things clearly
Hard to see that you don't need a damn mask to exist
But you do need a mask to protect yourself from that air pollution.
