Universe

A Poem by Lana

We all want love
To be part of the lucky ones
That took part of the blow
Of the universe's first show
It was on Broadway
I remember the way
You dressed that day
You wore a gold suit
And I looked like decay
You noticed me right away
It was on that show that we both learned how to play
We became actors
I learned my lines in May
You learned yours in January
Then one day you said
"Let's get out of here"
I asked "But where?"
You showed me the way to Antartica's coldest place
You said this is where we'll dance
Like two black holes in a trillion years
I thought you meant what you said
I was thinking of the black holes as decay
But we were still in New York
Where we ice skated and our mouths made cloud smoke
Mine ended up in an ashtray
Your beauty, your dreams
You were dynamic, the spotlight shining
As you danced and danced
You sang and sang
I was cold as ice
Terrified of our fate and where we will land
Zombie stars floating on air
You said just hold on, let's talk to each other
We are stronger together
But I needed time to ponder
About the laws of actors
In this universe
It was on Broadway
I remember the way
You looked at me that day
You said I exhibited a sort of morbid decay
You didn't want me to be destroyed by the sun
But I looked like decay
I was swallowed whole by the light of day
The spotlight on me slowly dimmed away
I became as cold as ice
You held my hand tight
Saying "We are in Antartica"
I know you lied
But I smiled
I was plunged by eternal night
No tickets sold
But the show must go on
It was on Broadway
I saw the way
You danced and danced
You said this was your last day
Your last day on Broadway
You ran out of fuel
Your temperature dropped
You explode prematurely
You said you just wanted to be with me
You did not want to collide with anybody
"The show must end without me"
So at last, you became a black star
Crushed soul
That couldn't dance with its black hole
Until we met again
And flared up together in a blaze of glory
We all want love
And we were lucky
Amongst the billions of souls
Our lives were a rare feat
But our love, much rarer
You were there for me
I was bound to be swallowed hole by your love
You were the sun in my world
Expanding in my heart
So much so it hurt
