Alone

Alone

A Poem by Lana

I am lonely
No quiet sea can compare to it
No farm in the middle of nowhere
No hitchhiker on a desert road
No elderly man in a nursing home
No air pilot's sacrifice to intercept a missile
No orphans in an orphan home
Nobody knows
Our loneliness is a cage
That we each loathe
But nobody knows
As nothing compares to it
I am alone in it
And will always be alone

I think for this time these words speak of a generation. Because of these past few years in enduring a plague we discovered the deep pain of isolation and loneliness. These words really are identifiable because we live them even now. Thank you Sarah for sharing your poem with us.
