Seeking the JOY

Seeking the JOY

A Poem by Lady Shade

An inconvenient truth

Rollicking through my brain

Identity disfigurement

Like shards of a mirror ground beneath my heel

A weathered womb

Still blessed with hope

A tired brow, salvaged ego

Sweat-stained and bruised

Treading a path

Pounded by my deception

Seeking evergreen

Fresh blossoms of lavender

The memory of jasmine

a touch without judgment

soothing fingers slightly roughened by wind

Remedy for expatriation

Lead me blindfolded

Toward my own escape

From this creation

Molded from an earth

I have sinned against

Led back to the cradle

Where joy still spills over
