Don't Give Up!!!

I wrote this poem to give my dearest son a boost of morale to help him through the hardest time of his life, U.S. Marine basic training. May God bless him....

Dearest Son….

 

I know it’s rough,

But don’t give up!!!!

When the going gets tough--

Just tuck your chin in

And grin….

Knowing that in your heart

You are miles apart

From spirits so faint

They mire in complaints.

It’s always better to

Double-down, dig deep

Knowing that soon

You will be out front and able to compete

With the very best ---

The US. Marines can attest.

You are a champion

In my eyes….

I look at the stars

And I realize

That God gave me the very best

To rear at his behest

So that you could go forth

And fight and defend the torch

That lights our wall,

Our freedom;  It’s your call.

God’s asked this of you.

I know it is absolutely true,

So He will always see you through.

My son is in Junior Navy class in high school
god bless him he sounds like a great boy and sounds
just as brave as mom is :)

Dearest Kindred poetess, yes. He's brand new to the marines. He was a poolee with the local marine recruiting office for one and a half years before they took him this june. He just graduated and is ecstatic about being a full fledged active duty marine. Thank you for reading and enjoying this poem. As a mom, we are limited in what we can do for them when they are away, but I think little poems here and there helped him keep his spirits up. Be blessed, dear friend.

Oh, dearest fairest daughter of our great mooon, you are too sweet. I'm doing the only thing that I can do at this point...writing every day and praying every night. He'll get through this without me....but I know that God will be at his side, his training Buddy, pulling him over walls and pulling under low fences on his belly. Thank you for your awesome review.
