This is a very compelling write, because it shows us that it's always darkest before the dawn, and one must travel through the darkness in order to find the light.
I love how you bring in images of nature and the vibrant colors of the sky to brighten this message.
Nicely penned.

Thank you, Rubie. You have made me very happy tonight! :)
"Paint the sky oft darkest night’s shadow." particularly love that line!! i also think your closing line is superb ... that battle is never really over is it?! at least on this earth ;) ... thank you for the reminder of a very difficult lesson ... its not so much having /getting knowledge, strength, expansive wisdoms, miraculous rescue etc. etc. so much as acceptance, trust and that mustard seed of faith ... thats when the dawn breaks eh!? a deep, thoughtful, inspiring poem .. loaded with personifications and visuals .. enjoyed reading!

Darkness is often just a figment of our desperate imaginaiton, and sometimes all we need to do is wait it out until the sun shines again. Very few people like to wait these days....but there are times we don't have a choice. I'm very happy you stopeed by to leave such an insightful review. God bless you,my friend.
All things must pass. I admire the way you compared chains to fears and tortured thoughts for they are one in the same. Your description of images is appropriate to the storms that pass internally within the disturbed mind. Angels in chains is a great metaphor to use to get your point across and you do it well here. Well done.

I'm happy you liked this one. I think almost everyone has some times when they are in a dark place. Some people fight it more than others, so I think it is an important message to get across. Thank you again..:)
As you know, I'm not religious at all, but I have read the bible and for some reason this made me think of the whole Noah's ark story. No idea if that was in your thoughts when you were writing this, but just how everything was dark and doom but then it all fell away to something new.
Regardless, this is an uplifting piece, for sure. Actually one I needed right now. I think we all need to be reminded that darkness isn't forever. Thank you for posting something so wonderful.

I actually wasn't going for anything biblical in this one. Sort of a metaphor for our darkest days, I guess. I am happy you found inspiration in it in some ways. Be blessed, my friend...:)
wow.. this is really powerful!! so much that darkness takes away from us, and what desolation it brings instead of joy and happiness.
The imagery was perfect to match the theme and the mood of the poem. I am happy that you see the end to darkness in its vile form. :D

It is wonderful that you dropped in to read and enjoyed this poem. Some of my closest friends are battling depression, and you hear of so many people commiting suicide, when it all seems so senseless. Often, bad moods or bad days are followed by glorious days, if we can but only wait out the storm. Thank you for your wonderful comments! :)
I am in love with your rhymes...as I have often said...tumbleweed has such an amazing sound...it sits so nicely on the tongue...plus that blade - cavalcade rhyme...your poems have a way of inspiring me, and making me happy... :)) kudos for this brilliant one...darkness isn't a palpable or measurable quantity, it is not a thing in itself, it is merely the absence of light, and so cannot last long...well said!! :))
Sending you hugs from half way across the globe.. :))

I didn't even realize it until it was over. I re-read the whole thing again, and realized that the saffron yellows part reminded me of you. I hope you don't mind me using that. I can change it. I'm so happy you liked this one. It has been hanging out in my subconscious for a long time waiting for my muse to get busy. I thought of you while i was writing the part about the moon reflecting on the wings...Ha! Isnt' it funny? I adore your writing. Aww, have a very happy mother's day!!! Stay gorgeous!! :))
i do like the almost mythological sense i get from this piece, but also the idea of how our fears can chain us ....and how we need to let go...or we will stay imprisoned in that fear for the rest of our lives.

"Dawns light breaks aft horizon
Indigo, saffron, and sunburst yellows
Paint the sky oft darkest night’s shadow.
Morning breaks, winds are gone
Day springs bright and new; shackles dissolve"
You summed it up marvelously in those wonderful lines. The whole poem is inspirational...Bravo..........
