limit to your love

limit to your love

A Poem by Laura

habitual fallings with inevitable endings

i watched you fade like the bruises on my neck

the crimson coloured marks gone

just like your faint freckles

folding into the crinkles of your face

each time you laughed

you planted seeds in my ribcage

grew roots around my bones

and sprouted flowers in my heart

i spend my days plucking the petals

but still, you love me not

you said you needed to explore other people

even though every inch of you

had already been mapped onto my body

with every touch

you created constellations

summer returned and so did you

the fourth of july fireworks
were dimmed by your drunken slur
a thousand miles between our tongues

but your voice poured into the cracks you made

what a web i've woven myself in

your bleary eyed blue begged for me back

beneath the flickering stars

and beside your familiar scent

i became tangled in your knots once more
