Lost ways.

Lost ways.

A Poem by funeralmoon
"

It truly hurt when you lose a friend one from a death, however it pains you even more when you lose one who is still living...

"
lost are the ways

of you and of me

gone are the days

that we loved just to be

broken is how we felt

but together we stood

we were once whole

and not listening like we should

we were ignoring the signs

that life was passing by

you didn't act like you did

and started to let this die.

so please stop the crying

and the pity for yourself

you didn't care before

all your care was of self

lost are the ways

of love for another

gone are the days

that you cried for others

a bond that we had

thicker than blood

but you changed that

and sacrificed our love.

I agree - in many ways, the loss of a loved one who is still living is harder than the loss of one to the permanence of death. Death forces one into closure and an ending, while the departure of the loved one to life offers one the option of closure, but often dangles it before you like the proverbial carrot.

A very nice telling of losing a loved one as "life was passing by" without an overcomplicated rhyme scheme.
