hill on fire

hill on fire

A Poem by lauren j

hill on fire

you are fire on a snowy hill

you run away

or i did

the truth is i am not her

that girl you gave a rose

i was never her

you see she chased trouble

to punish the dream

stemming from roots in trees

that her mother planted

we'll blame it on her mother

as to why she couldn't depend

on anyone outside

much less you, a boy

because boys set fire

to little girls they defile

yet you're still the longest relationship i have ever had with feelings so innocent and closer to normal than anything she could ever muster

I sit here now

with it all past due

wading through deadlines

and dead lines

pretending to know

how to write in the snow

of a hill on fire
