Just Me

Just Me

A Poem by Larry Dyson
"

commenting on multiple avatars for accomplished writers?

I have noticed from time to time...

Here lies a squeeky new avatar...

commissioned by a seasoned pro...

pictures are 'worth a thousand words'...

'pray tell'...

I accept that my soul and spirit can be ...

that different and divergent...

yet acceptance is not My, goal...

voice from the alternate mind set be...

The Tome by the alternate...

      ME.

I like the idea/inspiration behind this poem, and how the uncertainty created in musing over this observation is resolved by a resounding, ME... My interpretation of this tends toward a view that an alternate identity can be attempted or created anew, but in the end it is merely a different cover bound onto the same book. Interesting

ps my avatar changes reflect my different moods or feelings. I love finding beautiful artwork that reflects my mood or nature at that moment.

I believe we all have different sides to us that reflect that part of who we are and that role we play. I have rebel wild side that my true friends get to see while I am caring and understanding with my son. We all act differently in different situations and sometimes the parts of us that have been silent scream to be let out. May sound a bit multi personality but it isn't. Take a deep look inside and you will find you act differently with different people. I love this piece for it made me think of this.

I've spent a while pondering over this writing of yours...I think I'll stay with a simple photo of myself...too complicated even considering being represented by something that isn't me.

We are and can be so many different people--so many different voices --and feeling the freedom to explore all those alternate "me"s

Here lies a squeaky new avatar...

Some of us do hide behind our avatars....but not you. And I applaud you for this...your honesty and originality shows in both your writings and friendship.
Nicely penned.

You did mean avatar right? Not avitar?

A picture is worth a thousand words yet so many put entirely too much value in a face and a preconceived reputation that they neglect to look deeper into the person and see them as a whole rather than the fragmented pieces that they put together themselves to form what we know of as an 'assumption.' We write because we love to write, not because we want to win a popularity contest. With me personally, I'd like to be successful in my writing, have it be my livelihood but that yearning for fame, glory, etc is not something I'd really be interested in. Just want to do what I love to do and make a living from it is all...

But be thankful that although assumptions (at least to me) are annoying as all get out, they can be quite flattering simply because as we continue to write as a lot of us have for years, there are those who would appreciate a helping hand every so often or at least a gentle nudge in the right direction. Though it doesn't matter whether or not we are accepted, we write what we feel (yay alliteration!) and we write what we know.

I could so go on and on...

love the poem my dear! :)
