Until it is Time

Until it is Time

A Poem by Leah Elisabeth

I hold my shattered heart
tightly within my hands,
innumerable fragments,
impossible to heal.

The tighter I hold
the more it hurts,
each tiny shard
a deadly sword.

The pieces of my heart
pierce my bleeding hands.
How long must I wait
for the answer?

I long to hold on,
to heal my broken heart,
but my pain belongs to me
and I don't want to let go.

Yet I must let go,
I must release the splinters
to one whose hands
were also pierced.

His blood will fuse my heart together,
making it a thing of beauty once more,
blood from His own shattered heart,
His heart that I had broken.

I see my heart still in His hand,
living and beating, whole.
I know He won't refuse
if I try to take it back again.

Then I look at His heart
broken for me.
And I know it is safe
to let Him hold mine
until it is time.

Extremely good write! I read so many times this poem out of loving it, believe me! You thought a lot to give shape to what happened to the one when heart is broken; no one for sure will understand, unless in the same pain.

While reading it seems in the middle and end of the poem that you seemed a bit sensual to let the same pain be felt by someone close to your heart. But I have a feeling that it is very much universal, not so specific for you but for everyone who loves. Nice work! Good use of communicative English to convey your thoughts! And it bleeds quite often holding it.

"I long to hold on,
to heal my broken heart,
but my pain belongs to me
and I don't want to let go." I think this part is applicable for me.

Thank you.

Raja.

When I read your composition, I was immediately reminded of how my own heart was healed and of this passage, which confirmed an inner peace;

Ephesians 3:17-19 (The Message)

14-19My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit-not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength-that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you'll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ's love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.

Your tender, poignant and thought provoking write reflects that inner strength and blessing in you!

Wonderful share!
