Orange Shag Carpet

Orange Shag Carpet

A Poem by Elana Exploring

Orange shag carpet
I was once told to speak of you
I protested
You make me feel empty
I feel like my face is being forcibly suffocated into your musky dusty tendrils
Your neglect is my neglect
Your dust is the broken skin and fibers of my broken human form
Violated are your perfect weaves
They are frayed and stand like the legs of stools; If lucky, like the mouth of a large desk spot-lamp
Violated

You are poverty, you are the everlasting symbol of shelter and comfort
You keep my feet warm yet you burn my soul and my mind
Your poison is vile and it is everywhere
I cannot escape it

At least I have you
Orange shag carpet

About
I am just trying out some writing as a way of self expression. I have never done it much but have always liked poetry on occasion. It is beautiful as well as painful and I hope to learn so much more a.. more..
