Basement Floor

Basement Floor

A Poem by Elana Exploring

This concrete painted floor,
It is so dirty. Basement surfing has is hurts
I don't like you floor
Why do you have to be so filthy?
Holes and crannies filled with dirt.
Millipedes from your crevices, spiders from your cracks?
Those little bugs with the stingers freak me out the worst, I have never seen them anywhere else but on you
Even with all of your dirt and slant you lay the foundation to my haven
My one safe place in all the world
The tangible one
It is where my love lives
My source of strength and comfort
The place I stay here without him
My heart stays without him too
He comes back on Saturday
To home that is
I don't know if and when my heart will be his home again
His full one that is
That is painful floor
You do mock me, with your dirty imperfection, something I can barely stand
You don't care about true love
Or brooms
You show me what my life is
A dirty shaky crooked base resisting cleanliness or repair
The things around aren't all quite that bad but tainted by your stare
It all has to be torn up just like you floor
I wonder who will be first?

I just write what I think, no revisions or anything. Sometimes it doesn't sound right coming out but I'm just playing around with expression!

About
I am just trying out some writing as a way of self expression. I have never done it much but have always liked poetry on occasion. It is beautiful as well as painful and I hope to learn so much more a.. more..
