aubade

aubade

A Poem by georgia

after nights drenched in moonlight
we look at each other sideways
gauging depths, monitoring losses

when i slide off the bed wrapped in sheets
why do you shield your eyes
as if you never knew me?

i am the one who drank your blood last night
feeling it coat my throat
and warm my belly
