Keep On

Keep On

A Poem by Alexis

She,

would hide away her pain,

and fake a smile -

show on the outside

that she was happy,

just so others

wouldn't have to worry about her.

She didn't

want to drag them

through all of her mistakes.

Oh, how much she felt bad

because of everything

she had already put them through.

The more she tried,

to make them

not have to suffer with her,

the more

she lost how to feel

and what to know.

The little emotions left in her,

were hard for her to understand.

While her head was a mess,

her feelings became a blur.

How she felt,

like suicide would take it all away.

But she knew she couldn't.

She couldn't for others,

for the ones she was trying to help

get through the day.

On the inside,

it killed her

that who she was trying to help

had to go through a lot.

She is the one

who is trying to help them,

but she had fallen

harder,

than they have.

While this poem has no definite structure or consistent scheme (the beauty of poetry is that you don't need either of those things) , it conveys a message with emotion and thoughtfulness. Your poem brings to the reader's mind a feeling of pain through a story that many people can relate to. Well done.
