Hunters of Reason

Hunters of Reason

A Poem by Leslie Marie

There is beauty in wonder

and serenity in realization

but not too far gone.

This is where we loose ourselves.

We are hunters of reason,

seekers of knowledge.

We long to be kings and queens of epiphanies,

to rule over all there is to discover.

This is where we loose ourselves.

We yearn to expand the depths of our souls,

reaching into oblivion,

but we are foreigners in a mystic land

that turns dark when too much light is shed on it.

Contentment is bliss,

to love and be loved,

to succumb to peace,

to give our regards to destiny and discovery,

but not to humor them,

for in doing so...

This is where we loose ourselves.

'that turns dark when too much light is shed on it'

Found this line especially striking because of the imagery. You have a flow here that reads easily and fond of the reoccuring summaries, 'This is where we loose ourselves'
