Valentine from the Christ

Valentine from the Christ

A Poem by libramoon

Valentine from the Christ

Moving forward along the trail of blood
Pure hearts brought into life only
for self-satisfied chewing into
subjugation by imperial decree.
Children, our hope and future
eaten raw for no sin but birth.
Moving too quickly,
caught up in gears and
blank-eyed promises.
Heroes cast for face and form,
character a flimsy apparition to
serve action, timed to
perfect hormonal peaks,
tied to product placement,
demographic destiny.
There are promised lands, great vistas,
heaven in every detail.
Clear roadsigns, well articulated maps
abound.  Nothing real need be denied.
A box of chocolates.  A briar crown.
Symbols only create meaning
when the audience engages,
takes to heart the soaring music
and flies on wondrous wings.
