You're Always Invited

A Poem by Faith Almazan

I don't want to stop thinking

  of when I was your monkey.

We did the daily crossword.

Solving puzzles; you used to love me

When I read our horoscopes.

Today I am a Gemini.

Yesterday I was a Taurus;

Everyday you were my number five,

   and I was the number three.

We added our birthdays

      just to see,

if we'd work out

    like we both dreamed.

Love was you.

      My heart did scream.

Farewell to the bull

            and sad monkey.
