Aloha

Aloha

A Poem by Donald Meikle
"

There was a support pole in the cellar next to the pool table. He worked nights, I worked construction. Rainy days were two or three hundred games of eight ball. He died on Father's Day.

"

Helluva pole shot Coke

Father's Day will never be the same

Oddly enough I'm half glad y'gone

What's it been

Almost thirty years of depression?

and most of that in a wheelchair

That you chose to sit in

But on the brighter side

It kept me sane

and helped me see the cliff edge

I know you're glad it's over

leaving me full of if only

wasn't planned

We had some of the finest moments

Fishin'

Shootin' pool

Sleepin' over at World's End

All Past

Still
