the cow did it

the cow did it

A Poem by Donald Meikle

a fiddling cat in the middle of June
was thinking of having a meal
The music he played so enlivened the maid
That she dropped a dish and a spoon
First day on the job and a cat playing hob
twas an excuse she needed real soon
The little boy laughing was really too much
So the story she told was quite lame
On a high jumping cow she put all the blame
She had blocked out the light of the moon
So now we all know in detail and how
The dish ran away with the spoon
