Hurry This Won't Last

Hurry This Won't Last

A Poem by Donald Meikle

If you're dying to get into heaven
Please do it and leave me alone
I'm busily tending the Garden
with my feelings worn down to the bone
Irishmen killing each other
about how they gather to pray
arabs suicide bomb one another
to find paradise every day
did the devil develop religion
To turn paradise into hell
If he did he's a devious b*****d
and seems to be doing it quite well
Don't worry you'll all be forgiven
At least that's the theme of the song
You'll die and you'll get into heaven
But won't it be Hell if you're wrong
Trust me said the car salesman
You have to have faith said the priest
How could I stay in this business
Lying to you and the rest
Heaven is waiting stop hesitating
Make a down payment drive it away
Believe me it's all for the best
Don't try to find a solution
Give up on stopping pollution
Heaven's waiting for us to leave

Oh my goodness such a interesting piece.. I was thoroughly entertained.. It flows so well in the beginning but gets scattered a little for me towards the end... I love the message and the dark humor in there.. overall very nice...

This is such an important poem Donald. It makes so many incredible points and yet it does it in a way that is subtle and dare I say it, artistic to the nth degree.
