Monday Man

Monday Man

A Poem by Donald Meikle

An ode to Mondays
One seventh of your life
A workaday deja vu
Memories of weekend
Coloring and shading viewpoints
New Year Resolutions echoed
Into rippled indecisions
Forgotten last minute moments
Of Fridays rush to deadline
Waiting under rug edges
To be dealt with now
The guy in the corner office
With two window views
Yes the one who makes
Everything look and feel easy
Actually only works
Two days a week
Mondays and Fridays
And given the choice of one
Mondays
Did you ever wonder why?

Very good capture of how it feels to be in that work mode. Week in, week out.... we make this cycle! I toe the line, I make my mark, I host my meetings, I smile and nod.... I have my deadlines but also, I have learned to take a walk, enjoy the sun, step away and dream sometimes.... Well chosen words

Damn good question Donald. Monday blues never bothered me but when I worked shifts 2 until 10 I hated.

Of course the big bosses only worked dayshift
